Cooperating and Sharing Knowledge to accelerate the implementation of Smart Mobility on a bigger Scale
In the Netherlands the Smart Mobility Community for Standards & Practices has been organized to realize an efficient and effective roll-out of smart mobility systems. In this community key stakeholders with the mandate of industrial partners, government agencies, and knowledge institutes work together on actual topics based on the standardization needs of current projects. Together, they develop conditions and guarantees to enable the next step towards deployment, by working on current themes concerning us all. By this, they are realizing an efficient platform and framework.
Organisation
The Smart Mobility Community for Standards and Practices is an initiative from DITCM, The Dutch Government of Infrastructure and Environment and the action programs Connecting Mobility and BeterBenutten. DITCM is the programme in the Netherlands that wants to accelerate the upscaling of cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) and Connected-Automated Driving (C-AD) in the Netherlands.
Actual Projects
How can I prepare for cyber crime? What is the amount of information a driver can handle? Which standards are available? How to deal with the big amount of data and privacy issues? What are the effects of upscaling applications and users on throughput and safety?
Topics are inspired by actual Smart Mobility projects in the Netherlands and beyond. Use cases to be rolled out in the Netherlands and in Europe are the common thread in conversation. These use cases are prioritized by stakeholders and in relation to international scoping, business interest and governmental strategy.This continues process results in an shared work agenda and result with broad support. In preferred use cases such as Shockwave mitigation and Green Light Optimal Speed Advise, the Smart Mobility Community works on security and privacy issues, architectural choices, profiles, measuring methods and optimising human comfort and social and economic effects. They are willing to bring their experience to the table and invest in a shared framework. Results of the community discussions are collated on a national level and used in new projects. Through this working process, we are able to optimise our input for European workforces and respond quickly to international issues, with broad support.
International Challenge
Development of this framework is not a national issue, but an international challenge. The Smart Mobility Community takes on what is international available, and enrich this with national findings. The participants work closely together with international stakeholders, organized like the EU C-ITS Platform of standardisation, and by liaisons to important projects on large scale implementation, like the ITS Corridor, InterCor, C-Roads and C-Mobile Projects.
