Op 4 oktober heeft Werkgroep art. 29, de gezamenlijke Dataprotectie Autoriteiten in Europa een opinie uit gebracht over de dataprotectie aspecten van C-ITS. Dit op uitnodiging van het EU platform C-ITS, werkgroep 4, die daartoe een aanvraag had ingediend.

The report of EU Cooperative-‐intelligent Transport System Platform Working Group 4 has presented a number of issues and possible remedies. In order to validate the outcome of WG 4 a more in depth scrutiny of the results is being proposed for this Working Conference. Under the influence of massive data collection both by commercial parties and by public authorities the protection of personal data is getting more and more under pressure. The data protection authorities justly take a strong stand against abuse of personal data. However in the case of C-ITS it seems to lead to restrictive interpretations of the data protection legislation.
