Automated vehicles (AVs) are, in some forms, already here. If history is a guide, their rollout may occur rapidly. They have the potential to bring great benefits, particularly in the form of saving us time and reducing the number of collisions on our roads. But as they roll out, they will be disruptive to both the public and private sector in the process.
